How to Record Audio on Mac When Using Cya Live<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

When you hit the \u201cRecord\u201d button on Cya Live, your session is captured\u2014including video and visuals\u2014but macOS restricts apps from recording system audio by default<\/b><\/span>, which means you might miss the sound from videos or other participants unless you take a few extra steps.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the easiest way<\/b><\/span> to enable both system and mic audio recording on a Mac.<\/p>\n

What You\u2019ll Need<\/b><\/h2>\n

We recommend using BlackHole<\/b><\/span> \u2013 a free, lightweight audio driver that lets you route audio between apps.<\/p>\n

You can install it in just a few steps:<\/p>\n

Step 1: Install BlackHole (Free)<\/b><\/h4>\n

    Visit the official BlackHole GitHub page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Click on \u201cDownload Installer\u201d<\/b><\/span> and follow the instructions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Choose \u201c2ch\u201d version<\/b><\/span> unless you need advanced multi-channel setup.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Step 2: Create a Multi-Output Device (So You Can Hear and Record at Once)<\/b><\/h3>\n

      Open Audio MIDI Setup<\/b><\/span> (found in Applications > Utilities).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      Click the \u201d+\u201d<\/b><\/span> button at the bottom left and choose \u201cCreate Multi-Output Device\u201d<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    3. \n

      Check the boxes for:<\/p>\n

        Your Mac\u2019s built-in output or headphones<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        BlackHole 2ch<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

        Optional: Right-click it and select \u201cUse This Device for Sound Output\u201d<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Step 3: Route Mic and System Audio<\/b><\/h3>\n

        To capture both your mic and system audio:<\/p>\n

          In Cya Live<\/b><\/span>, keep using your regular mic as input.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          For recording:<\/p>\n

            Choose BlackHole<\/b><\/span> as the system output when recording.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Or, for simpler capture, use a free app like Loopback<\/b><\/span> or Audio Hijack<\/b><\/span> if you prefer visual control (these are paid but easier for non-technical users).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Step 4: Start Recording in Cya Live<\/b><\/h3>\n

              Hit Record<\/b><\/span> in your Cya Live session.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            2. \n

              Make sure your audio output is set to the Multi-Output Device you just created.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            3. \n

              Talk and play content as usual\u2014Cya Live will now capture everything.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Test first<\/b><\/span>: Run a short Cya session and review the video to confirm everything is working.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                You can switch audio output back to normal once your session is done (System Settings > Sound).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
